And finally, “Love Me or Leave Me” with some quotes from Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Fugue in C Major” (https://youtu.be/5cnZjClf6zM?si=j3_FQSB6hs_H67f4) as performed by Miss Nina Simone

What’s that? Time! For! Bach! Variations! Here’s the intense, chromatic and just downright wonderful “Variatio 25. a 2 Clav.: Adagio” AKA “The Black Pearl” (https://youtu.be/fvayaGqkCwg?si=upl71dl-fiLOR7Ay) from The Bach Jazz Trio (yes, again!)

“Concerto in A Minor” (https://youtu.be/9mR5DsOO_ek?si=b3HYHPcAHVXXkKo8) is kind of a quirky J.S. Bach piece that was originally composed around 1717ish. It seems to marry the European music that inspired Bach with the Baroque music he would later come to be defined by. This particular piece was arranged by Franco-Ukrainian pianist and composer Dimitri Naïditch.

Both “Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, Movement 2: Air” (https://youtu.be/roLawoQHWbE?si=Mmzp_hqZcS1X6rJ8) and Flute Sonata in E-flat major, Movement 2: Siciliano (https://youtu.be/9HVRF0w5umE?si=jIS57gJLSNwuSB4z) are J.S. Bach compositions that has stood the test of time due to their lyricism. These interpretations come to us from the aptly named Swedish group The Bach Jazz Trio

Next we have the rather joyful duo of J.S. Bach’s “Partita in G major, Movement 5: The Preambulum” (https://youtu.be/YjLhbY3aCgE?si=-mwua2WckuMN0kvK) and “Prelude and Fugue No. 2 in C minor” (https://youtu.be/WsWCSL3-Zdg?si=_HQIdU3dfQPB3u4h)- both arranged by Montreal-based composer Matt Herskowitz

“Prelude and Fugue No. 1 in C major (https://youtu.be/VSIeHZ4FIl4?si=r3nIL8XUyjRr-4Kk) is another by Johann Sebastian Bach that’s known for being especially dense and full of what’s known as “stretto” AKA overlapping themes and professions. This interpretation comes to us from the French group The Jacques Loussier Trio

“Suite No. 2 in B minor, Movement 7: The Badinerie” (https://youtu.be/5emXTgL7Guc?si=n0_vSOolDYMDknA2) was composed in the late 1720s & early 1730s by Johann Sebastian Bach. This movement is notable for already being very ~dance-y~ and here it’s being interpreted as “Swingin’ Bach” by Mister Golden Hands himself, Romanian-German Jazzman Eugen Cicero.
