Many years ago i encountered an article about the ecological benefits of “Not Raking Leaves In Fall” and I follow it happily now. All the trees are currently dropping dead leaves and where the wind puts them, I leave them. Every year, in the spring, I marvel at the discovery that overwinter, they get used, eaten, and rot into the ground. There is simply nothing to rake in the spring.
