On #ThisDayInHistory in 1946, Cunard liner #RMSQueenElizabeth arrived in NYC on her postwar maiden voyage. Due to the outbreak of World War II, she had served as a troopship first. Her entry into civilian service began the most successful phase of Cunard's Atlantic dominance.
