The #R2AK race kicked off from Victoria's inner harbour on Wednesday. I got some photos... and a sunburn (oops!)
These entrants - including at least one stand-up paddleboard paddler - will be racing 750 miles to Alaska. First one to arrive wins a prize. Second to arrive wins ... steak knives.

Just realized I missed most of this yearβs Race to Alaska π #r2ak
Race to Alaska teams are announced! I tend to hold a warm heart for the monohulls and the rowers. I'm excited to see what Team Solveig can do (they've been doing some nice shakedown cruises according to their Insta).
15 knot currents, gale force winds, cold water, deep water, logs, bears, cold, fatigue, and endless unknowns. First prize: $10,000. Second prize: a set of steak knives. This feature length documentary explores the extreme and impressive individuals who accepted this utterly unique challenge.
