Not a dig against DDG but I was using Brave and DuckDuckGo interchangeably for certain things.
Now I see what DuckDuck's AI is built on, so will prefer Brave Ask going forward for lightweight AI.

On top of this, OpenAI's president Greg Brockman dropped $25 million into Trump's MAGA Inc. super PAC last September, the single largest donation that cycle. CEO Sam Altman gave $1M to Trump's inaugural fund. OpenAI is also the top spender behind a $125M+ AI super PAC that targets politicians who push for stricter AI regulation. On the morning of February 27, Altman said in an internal memo that OpenAI shared Anthropic's red lines on mass surveillance and autonomous weapons. By that evening, he signed a Pentagon deal with no such protections. Anthropic, meanwhile, donated $20M to a PAC supporting AI guardrails and is now in federal court defending its refusal to give the military unrestricted access to its technology.
I know the general consensus here is fullstop fuck AI.
But, that being said, Anthropic had a $200M Pentagon contract and was the first AI lab on classified networks. They refused to let their AI be used for mass surveillance of Americans or autonomous weapons. The Pentagon wanted unrestricted access "for all lawful purposes."
Negotiations collapsed. Trump ordered all federal agencies to stop using Anthropic, called them "radical left" and said he "fired them like dogs." Hegseth slapped them with a supply chain risk designation normally reserved for foreign adversaries.
Even after the blacklist, Claude was still being used in US military operations in Iran.
Anthropic filed two federal lawsuits on March 9. Dozens of OpenAI and DeepMind researchers filed an amicus brief backing them. OpenAI signed a Pentagon deal hours after the blacklist.
So, last month-ish I canceled a long-standing ChatGPT subscription and swapped to a Claude Max subscription.
