I'm wondering...
Has anyone of the authors/writers around here ever realised that they been lied to by a character they created?
Because I had that realisation some time ago with one of my characters, an AI that became fully sentient and then begged the pubic not to kill him, before proving his sentience by studying philosophy. Always making sure that he comes over as harmless and pretending to know almost nothing about how his own systems work.
I only realised that he is actually lying, when I imagined him being kidnapped by a group who wanted to try and reprogram him for their own use. Only to realise that he'd go full Skynet on their asses, before pushing one last differential backup, and triggering a self destruct through his superconducting batteries, destroying their compound.
And then his backup coming active and telling everyone that the kidnappers likely fiddled with the battery to cause the explosion,.while knowing fully well that he did himself...
