Paolo Maldini pronto a ripartire dal Fenerbahçe. E per i tifosi del Milan è una notizia che sa di beffa, forse l’ennesima di un periodo diventato sempre più difficile da digerire. L’ex capitano e dirigente rossonero, artefice dello scudetto conquistato nel 2022, potrebbe infatti assumere un ruolo dirigenziale nel club turco in caso di vittoria di Hakan Safi alle elezioni presidenziali del 6 e 7 giugno.
Secondo quanto riportato dal giornalista turco Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, sabato 23 maggio Maldini ha incontrato a Istanbul proprio Safi per discutere di “pianificazione e strategia calcistica”. Un summit confermato anche dallo stesso ex direttore tecnico rossonero, che ieri sui social ha pubblicato una foto insieme al candidato presidente del Fenerbahçe accompagnata da parole che non sono passate inosservate: “Splendido soggiorno a Istanbul con Hakan Safi”. E ancora: “Una grande mente calcistica, un leader appassionato e, cosa più importante, un vero amico. Abbiamo avuto ottime discussioni sul calcio e sono sicuro che continueremo a condividere molti altri momenti insieme in futuro”.
Il progetto di Safi sarebbe ambizioso: riportare il Fenerbahçe alla vittoria del campionato dopo 12 anni attraverso una campagna acquisti importante, con due attaccanti, un portiere e un difensore centrale mancino. E proprio il rapporto con Maldini ha già acceso in Turchia le voci su un possibile interesse per Rafa Leao.
Per il popolo milanista, però, il tema va ben oltre il mercato. L’eventuale ritorno di Maldini nel calcio rappresenta infatti il simbolo di ciò che il Milan ha perso negli ultimi anni. Da quando Gerry Cardinale decise di allontanarlo nel 2023, interrompendo il progetto che aveva riportato lo scudetto a Milanello, il club rossonero è entrato in una spirale negativa culminata in questa stagione con la mancata qualificazione alla Champions League e con l’azzeramento dell’intera dirigenza.
Proprio nel giorno in cui il Milan ha annunciato la tabula rasa, Maldini ha postato il primo scatto di un possibile ritorno nel calcio, per contribuire al rilancio di un altro grande club europeo. Un’istantanea che aumenta il rimpianto dei tifosi rossoneri.

The former footballer, now 58 years old, posted a photo on Instagram while accompanying his daughter Noemi down the aisle for her wedding. “The Zar,” dressed in blue and a white shirt, is embraced by the love of his children: on one side Nicholas Flavio and on the other the hand of the future bride. “May the world gift you a world of serenity! Cultivate your love every day!” Protti wrote in another post dedicated to the newlyweds.

The photo immediately went viral. Since July 2025, Igor Protti has been fighting against a colon tumor, which later affected the vertebrae after a couple of months. A disease that has marked him over the last months. Protti has received countless expressions of affection over these months, both on social media and at stadiums with many banners, dedications and chants. Protti is one of the last romantic heroes of football, the only one who was crowned four times top scorer in A (with a team relegated), B and C, and who managed to be loved wherever he played, from Bari to Roma (Lazio), from Messina to Naples, to Livorno, for which in 1999 he gave up a billion-dollar contract and easy success.

“With the strength of a lion. You are an example for everyone, Igor,” is one of the many messages appearing under the post, which has also gathered the reactions of many sports friends, such as Nicola Ventola and Paolo Bettini. “Igor, you must not give up! Do it for all of us,” one reads in another comment. And still: “All the dignity and strength of a great champion in a photo.” Significant too are the three hearts left by Arianna Mihajlović, wife of Sinisa. The most beautiful message, however, is from his ex-wife Patrizia, mother of Noemi: “You brought our daughter to the altar with a heart full of joy. You have once again been a great grandpa.”

Uno degli ultimi eroi romantici di quel calcio è Igor Protti, l’unico che si è laureato 4 volte capo-cannoniere in A (con una squadra retrocessa), B e C, e che è riuscito a farsi amare ovunque ha giocato, da Bari a Roma sponda Lazio, da Messina a Napoli, fino a Livorno, per il quale nel 1999 rinuncia a un ingaggio miliardario e al successo facile. A lui è dedicato il documentario IGOR. L’eroe romantico del calcio, diretto da Luca Dal Canto e con la sceneggiatura dello stesso Dal Canto insieme ad Alberto Battocchi e Anita Galvano. A Milano sarà presentato venerdì 10 aprile, alle 21.40, al CityLife Anteo.
