100+ students walk out from FIU in solidarity with Palestine, rejecting statements made by FIU and policy by Biden and DeSantis as they try to one up one another in sending weapons to support Israel’s genocide of Palestinians.
A bold move by @SJPatFIU to say the least as two sister chapters at UF and USF have just been canceled as official student orgs by DeSantis. The FIU chapter is not officially recognized by FIU anyways
A handful of enraged Zionists counterprotest. They make baseless accusations that the Palestine students support terrorism, are antisemitic, are nothing but rage; they repeat the lie that 1,400 Israeli civilians were killed by Hamas (most were IDF soldiers).
Every accusation is an admission: the Zionists demand for material support to the terror state of Israel, hurl islamophobic slurs, foam at the mouth in their anger, and mock the grief of Palestinians mourning the genocide of 7,000 civilians (half children).

“Mourn the dead, fight like hell for the living”
Community gathers to hold an intimate vigil at the Torch of Friendship in Miami for those murdered by the settler colonial state of Israel. Those wishing to mourn rather then rage take it back to the Torch.
Vigils at the Torch are always surreal. A hallowed ground, soaked with too much history recent and past, the tourists and transplants typically strolling by thin out and traffic finally dies down.
Maybe the ethereal is what drove some to congregate here. Genocide is called a limit event because the violence is beyond the limits of human comprehension. 1,400 children dead, 75 years of Nakba.
Surrounded by statues of evil men, a torch dedicating JFK’s imperialism in Latin America, and a park equally known for corruption as the bodies that wash up on the sea walls, this isn’t friendly territory.
Grief itself becomes a revolutionary act. A spot in Miami where one can stand and proclaim truth: Israel is committing a genocide in order to annex all of Palestine.
