I don’t know about this one. Need time to think about it more.

The basic problem for me is that the CMHC insures mortgages in Canada which is the only reason banks will give out $500,000 loans with only $25,000 down.

So the province will provide the loan guarantee to the bank.

So what? Where’s the CMHC in all this? Will it insure 2% down payments? I guess not. So does the province or the bank kick in the extra 3%? Someone has to unless the CMHC has agreed to insure those 2% loans.

And if the province, what happens to Nova Scotia’s credit rating when these loans start to default?

And they will default. The entire 2008 mortgage crises in the US was caused by exactly that - allowing borrowers to over leverage themselves.

The only reason Canada didn’t go down with the boat is because we have stronger mortgage rules.

The same rules at stake here.

Needs more info.

I'm Deeply Sorry My Party Broke Its Promise On Electoral Reform

I ask a simple question: should a party with less than 40 per cent of the popular vote control 100 per cent of the power in our democracy? There is an overwhelming consensus that the answer is "no." Democracy's legitimacy lies in its authority from the people.
