I have to say Doggett grew on me by the end of this episode. More than I expected to so quickly, anyway.
In the few minutes between the reveal and the confirmation that Skinner was ok, I in fact googled to confirm that Skinner was okay. XD
Amusingly this has been some of my favorite Big Plot stuff to date.
S08E02 - Without
We start with a philosophical intro, and then immediately the intro sequence.
Fake-Mulder throws himself off of a cliff and I swear all these FBI dudes are wearing the same tie.
I... may have to write a Skinner/Scully fic. Does he have a wife? I might have to make him a divorcee...
Ok but can they stop with the repeat torture scene? Not only do I hate this trope, I just don't think it adds much.

I feel like Scully is more hurt or on edge at the suggestion he had a hand in it himself because they're so close, which plays interestingly across Skinner's conviction based on what he saw.
Honestly, Skinner is such a good character. Why have I never heard of him in connection with this show? Unfair tbh.
Leave poor Gibson out of this! Kid's been through enough...

I feel so bad for Scully. Like, complicated feelings about no longer being infertile aside, it must be so fucking terrifying to be pregnant and have no idea how or by whom. Just horrendous.
Can we skip the face-needles and the mouth-drilling please and thankyou?
Obviously this is some kinda setup but I'll assume Doggett isn't in on it because I feel like that'd be a bridge past any kind of later cooperation.
I love this Skinner and Scully dynamic.

S08E01 - Within
We begin with Scully having a nightmare about Mulder.
Was... was there always a fetus in the intro sequence?
I'm hoping I'll like the new chars now w Mulder gone but Doggett didn't exactly give a good first impression.
Ok, I don't like this Big Plot anymore than most other Big Plot episodes and from what I've heard I'll hate the rest of Baby Arc BUT I will say Gillian Anderson and Mitch Pileggi killed it in this final scene.
Like we know Dana numbers among my TV wives but did I mention I really like Skinner? He's just trying his best in a really complicated situation.
Watching him watch her with the baby was cute tho. I wish they made it easier for me to ship this.
Is this episode when Scully gets pregnant? I have a feeling I'm not going to like this arc. This show loves giving Scully kids and then taking them away.
Mulder's getting abducted. Guess that's a combo breaker of sorts. But in this show it feels like Main Character Of the Universe Syndrome rather than a surprise...
S07E22 - Requiem
Season ender starts with a car crash and... a deputy's doppleganger?
Why is this accountant acting like Cassandra is officially the aim of the X-files?
Wait is she still alive? And there's Krycek too.
I don't remember this kid but I do remember the car scene from the pilot.
I want to find this scene sweet and I think Mulder actually means well but gosh let her decide if she thinks it's worth it. If you really don't think it is, then you quit.
I feel like Mulder should've thought this through more. Either way I feel like this genie being kind of misanthropic might be coloring her interpretation of the wishes. Which makes her honestly no better than the people she criticizes.
Mulder, if you want to wish altruistically, start smaller. Less fine print that way.
Called it! Tho why he's not telling Scully, I do not know. To feel mysterious, I guess.

Ahaha I love these morgue assistants just being like "can we leave, we can't compute this invisible corpse.
I love seeing Scully this enthused! If this show was more balanced between science-weird and Mulder-weird, we could see it so much more often.
Oh gosh did he wish his brother back to life? Yup, yup he did.
Mulder with three wishes... that's gonna be interesting. Is he gonna wish for her to be human again?
