According to a recent World Bank Group report, 66 percent of the global population live in areas where water is scarce for at least part of the year. The authors of the study focused on analyzing the progressive desertification and periodic droughts in the context of their negative impact on per capita economic growth. Unfortunately it is the poorest countries that are most threatened by the crisis.
