A late evening post with pictures from last Sunday to warm you up for cold swimming next Sunday!

Usually we show a mixed bag of pictures to give you a flavour of what POOL IS COLD is all about. This time we focus on the most important ingredient: the people who come swimming, who make POOL IS COLD happen and who all together make up the cold water swimming community of Brussels.

By the way, last week we celebrated St. Patricks Day with a great community of Irish people in Brussels and the proper playlist of music. The Irish are one of our most loyal visitors and it’s great that we were able to develop a place that became almost a home away from home. Perhaps we are exaggerating the significance of our small pool here, so please correct us if we’re wrong :)

"3 days to go for JE VEUX NAGER, we are at 95%! Here are 3️⃣ of our ambitions we want to realize with your support! #FLOW must remain open as a testbed for the future of #outdoor #swimming in #Brussels:
1️⃣ We want organize even more swimming courses for children and adults after the many requests we received this year. Knowing how to swim is the first step to water safety for a lifetime! (Picture: swimming course at FLOW this summer)
2️⃣ A #sauna will continue the FLOW season throughout the colder season, with the pool to cool down after socializing in the heat of the sauna. (Picture: kids from the neighborhood enjoy Koti Sauna that visited FLOW during the Flow Up festival with #Zinnema)

Outdoor swimming in Brussels for everyone

Outdoor swimming is making a comeback. POOL IS COOL built FLOW, the pop-up swimming pool along the canal in Anderlecht. With FLOW we show that swimming in open air is possible and necessary in Brussels. But we cannot do it alone. Support us and ensure that FLOW will continue to exist during the coming summers!

La natation en plein air revient. POOL IS COOL a construit FLOW, la piscine pop-up le long du canal à Anderlecht. Avec FLOW, nous montrons que la baignade en plein air à Bruxelles est possible et nécessaire. #GertVanderEken was recently appointed as new director general of the Port of Brussels for the next five years. [...] 'In addition to the economy, recreation, and the residential and green function are becoming very important. Now it is a #waterway and that is exactly where it ends. The Brussels region is green, but something is missing on the #water. People need a connection to the water.' [...] 'En Scandinavie, j'ai vu que la qualité de l'eau était exécrable il y a 20 ans et maintenant les gens s'y baignent. Pour ma part, je pense qu'il y a trop peu d'installations de #baignade. Se #baigner dans le canal, pourquoi pas ? Mais n'oublions pas que le port est un moteur économique. La baignade en semaine ? Je ne sais pas si c'est faisable. Mais ceci dit, il n'est pas impossible de se baigner dans le canal. Regardons cela sans tabous'."
