RHLSTP Book Club: The Golden Age Of Children’s TV

I join Richard Herring for a chat about The Golden Age Of Children’s TV…!

Tim Worthington

Brand new episode of #Pipkins (a #British #kids #TV show from the 1970s and early 1980s, intended to be a domestic version of #SesameStreet (a coincidence - the original was made at the same studios in #Elstree (now used by the BBC) used in 1970s/80s for the #Muppet show)

This 2025 remake is 100% authentic to the original (all the same actors and even the human presenter)

THE RETURN OF HARTLEY HARE: 21st Century Pipkins (Reunion Special)

#HartleyHare dressed as a cow but somewhat resembling #Hela! lol #Pipkins
@steveHampson Agggggggg - I've spent 50 years trying to forget the nightmare that was ... #Pipkins !!!!

But so as not to feel too depressed as to the ITV franchise changes; this year also marks the 2̶0̶t̶h̶ 3̶0̶t̶h̶ 50th anniversary of Pipkins, which was first broadcast #OTD in 1973.

Although only two episodes seem to still exist of the first series, entitled Inigo Pipkin, and starring George Woodbridge in the leading rôle, only he passed away later that same year.

This episode, the earliest to survive, original tx 4/7/1973.
