Recent pickups from Julio's Liquors.

First up, Ardbeg Smokiverse, this year's Fèis Ìle release. This just came in for those who had pre-ordered it, as I had, and will be generally available soon for Ardbeg Day.

Next up, Pinhook 9 year Straight Rye Whiskey "The Home Stretch. This is part of the Loch & Key Whisk(e)y Society vertical series which sees a new release each year, each one year older than the last. I've been collecting these since it started and I'm planning to wait for it to end, then do a gathering to side-by-side all of them. It will end when it ends - basically whenever another year starts to be too much.

Then Bully Boy Distillers Straight Bourbon Whiskey "Wickeder Dahk". Another Loch & Key bottling, this is obviously a follow up to the earlier "Wicked Dahk" bottle. (If you're wondering about the spelling, think Boston accent.)

And finally, Alma del Jaguar Tequila Nocturne. We tried their range at a recent Whisk(e)y Wednesday at Julio's Liquors - the standard Blanco, Reposado, and Anejo, and this one. Their standard line ferments 20% with champagne yeast and 80% with wild yeast, and they were all very good. But Nocturne is 100% wild yeast and I thought it was the best of the lot, and very affordable, so I grabbed one.

Tonight's pick-ups from Julio's Liquors Whiskey Wednesday. As you can tell, I do enjoy rye.

Tonight was a great Beam Suntory tasting by Allie Klug, and I came away with the A. Overholt Monongahela Mash Rye and the Basil Hayden Malted Rye.

I also picked up the Loch & Key Whisk(e)y Society Pinhook 8 year Rye "Clubhouse Turn", which is the fifth bottle in an ongoing multi-year vertical.

And, not a rye, but the latest Ardbeg, Spectacular.

This is Go Whiskey Week at Julio's Liquors and events have been running all week. Wednesday night's Pinhook Whiskey seminar included a bottle, Friday night's Redbreast seminar included a bottle of Jameson, one of Saturday's seminars, by Old Elk, also included a bottle. And while Dark Arts Whiskey House did also have a seminar on Saturday, the bottles are actually both Julio's exclusive Loch & Key Whisk(e)y Society bottlings, "Arm & Oak" and "Portal", which I'd had on pre-order. They just arrived during GWW.
