Once I migrated my bookmarks from Delicious to #Pinboard, and it was so good. I really liked Pinboard's minimal approach and paid each year for having them archive all the pages I've ever bookmarked. We're talking 20k+ pages which I've bookmarked over a time of 20+ years; of course, many of the oiriginal websites are no longer online.

Being able to do a full text search through that archive has become such a vital part of my everyday research. I really have buillt my own search engine over the years.

But now, I worry that Pinboard is on the decline. The guy running it doesn't seem to care as much anymore and many times when I bookmark a page, it's not archived (error code: 500).

So I might have to start looking for another #bookmarking service. One which will still archive everything and make it searchable for me. And which will also accept importing the 20k+ existing bookmarks.

Does anything like such an alternative even exist?

there seems to be a steady cycle - software company or organisation or company starts new software project with many new users, project tanks, users have to export their data or data is lost without notice - this has happened many times in last 20 years - having control over one's own data is vital - it can be mounted locally or be resurrected using other records or backup kept locally rather than be deleted when software project is shut down - e.g. Skype, Facebook community chat, myspace, pinboard, National Library of Australia #user #data #export #software #backup #skype #facebook #nationallibraryofaustralia #pinboard #myspace
The current lineups for my #itabag #痛バッグ (both front and back) my #switchcase from It’s My Obsession, and the #pinboard I had to buy since I ran out of space on the others! I saw someone refer to the American/Western Itabag style as a “frantic” Itabag, and I’m happily embracing that description! #animefan #animefangirl #oshikatsu #推し活 #fandom #animefandom #otaku #おたく(effects by #linecamara)

I haven't had a ton of time lately but we just released a new version of LinkTaco. Lots of bug fixes but the big piece is the Pinboard API -> GraphQL bridge. You can now use all your existing Pinboard tools or integrations directly with LinkTaco.

@wjmaggos @frumble @wallabag I’m pretty sure there is a search parameter that can be added to the URL to change the sort order. I think by default it does show the most recent saves first. I will look into this… #Pinboard cc @cogdog

I downloaded my archive from #Pocket expecting I might have a few dozen entries saved. The csv file had 692 items going back twelve years from around when I started using Firefox. There's a fair number of broken links, most but not all of them addressed by looking on the Wayback Machine.

At some point I'm going to put some of the keepers in #pinboard

Anybody have any favorite self-hosted bookmark apps? I’m looking into #Linkding for its small footprint and active community.

I recently tried to switch from #Pinboard to #GoodLinks and I’m not super happy with it.
