One crazy trick to not let dandelions take over your lawn:
Dig up half of it to plant veggies and let clover and goldenrod take over the other half
I am a human on the internet. Unlinked and semi-pseudonymous here to avoid making this a Serious Presence, but if you're wondering if it's me, probably yes.

I am so pissed off that I called and left a voicemail on less than an hour's preparation. So you know this is a big deal.
Here's my rough script if it helps anyone
The ministry phone line is 416-325-2600 and I got voicemail. You could try the constituency office if you want, 905-642-2588
Hello Minister Calandra, my name is ______, I am a parent of a kid in a TDSB school
this is a quick call in response to the government's announcement that it is uploading control of several school boards including the TDSB
the TDSB is facing multiple challenges including many school buildings that are a hundred years old, as well as demographic changes as neighbourhoods where kids live change. it has been prohibited from addressing these due to the provincial moratorium on closing schools, and per-student funding has fallen. There are teacher shortages. This year my kid's kindergarten class had 30 kids in it.
I will be waiting for announcements as to how these challenges will be addressed by the province
You can reach me at _______ if you would like to discuss
Thank you and have a busy summer
TIL Dark Horse, Village Juicery, and Dear Grain are owned by the same company aiming to "scale and acquire emerging food brands"
I guess it's been well over a decade since Dark Horse was new and hip, but still a little surprised

Intelligence is coming up with a way to carry five glass jars at the same time
Wisdom is knowing not to do it
- ate a reasonably healthy lunch
- refilled liquid soap containers
- changed air filter
- vacuumed
- tested fire alarms
so apparently the secret to household chore productivity is procrastinating making a phone call
or should I just skip all that sub-brand bullshit and get an SSD? I've been really pleased with my Samsung SSDs (including a 10-year-old one!), and a 4 TB one seems to be $360 which is expensive but like not mortgage-expensive
this is for storage so I don't need the speed but
Is there a good resource explaining the different types of internal 3.5" hard drives available for sale these days, like the sub-brands / types, their disadvantages, etc?
Like, how are "NAS" drives different from "compute" drives, "green" from "red", etc
