Il Tempo: Falsa morte di re Carlo, l'annuncio della radio e l'incredibile gaffe

Clamorosa gaffe in Inghilterra. Una radio locale del Sud-Est inglese ha dato per errore la notizia della morte di re Carlo III e ha attribuito l'annuncio a un malfunzionamento del computer. "La procedura 'Monarca', che tutte le emittenti radiofoniche britanniche tengono pronta nella speranza di non doverla mai utilizzare, è stata attivata per sbaglio martedì pomeriggio, annunciando erroneamente la morte di Sua Maestà il Re", ha scritto su Facebook Peter Moore, direttore di Radio Caroline. Moore ha citato "un errore del computer verificatosi nello studio principale".
Dopo essersi resa conto dell'imbarazzante disguido, la radio dell'Essex, fondata nel 1964, si è scusata in diretta e poi sui social media con il re e gli ascoltatori "per il disagio causato". Il monarca settantasettenne, che si trovava in visita in Irlanda del Nord al momento dell'erroneo annuncio, è tuttora in cura per un cancro, che aveva rivelato nel febbraio 2024.

Moore cited “a computer error that occurred in the main studio.”
After realizing the embarrassing blunder, the Essex-based radio station, founded in 1964, apologized live and then on social media to the King and listeners “for the inconvenience caused.” The seventy-seven-year-old monarch, who was visiting Northern Ireland at the time of the false announcement, is still undergoing treatment for cancer, which he revealed in February 2024.
