#Perl5 and #Raku let you compose regexen in much the way you'd compose functions into a large piece of code. The pieces can be named, commented, and laid out spaciously and readably. I think at least one of the Boost regex libraries can do something similar. (Boost.Spirit, possibly? In our embedded environment, I never got it to work.)
Where possible, I'd always compose complicated regexen like this one, rather than trying to write them all scrunched up and inline. (I appreciate that most regex engines don't offer these quality-of-life features, and scrunched-up-and-inline is the only way they let you work.)

#Perl: older than some #programming careers, younger at heart than you think.
It’s evolved a lot since 1999 — modern features, cleaner syntax — yet it still runs code you wrote decades ago.
(And if you’re wondering: #Perl6 was renamed Raku in 2019 — it’s a sister language, not a successor.)
Curious? Returning after a long break? @shiar’s cheat sheet is a perfect quick‑scan: https://sheet.shiar.nl/perl
