Anyone else get the problem where tapping to pay with your Pixel phone results in "Payment Declined", yet tapping your Pixel watch (which uses the same Google account / Wallet & stored card as the phone) works fine?

Plus, non-tap Google Pay payments made from the phone aren't declined.

Weird, annoying behaviour which neither my bank nor Google can explain or resolve.
