Traitors icon Paul Gorton says if he was Claudia, he’d pick Swansea’s Fiona Hughes as Secret Traitor

With the nation hooked on the BBC show fronted by Claudia Winkleman, and as viewers return to the castle tonight for episode four, Gorton has stuck the knife into the current crop of players and delivered his verdict on the biggest twist in the game.

It comes after Swansea Bay News revealed Fiona had surged up early prediction charts, with fans increasingly convinced she could be hiding behind the cloak.

‘If I was Claudia, I would have picked Fiona’

Gorton — one of the most notorious Traitors ever to wear the cloak — said three women stand out as potential Secret Traitors, and Fiona is firmly among them.

Paul Gorton, speaking to 10bet Casino, said:

“I think it’s between three women, with two outstanding candidates: Amanda, Fiona and Ellie… If I was Claudia, I would have picked Fiona.”

He added that he would be “blown away” if the Secret Traitor turned out to be a man.

The Traitors: Secret Traitor twist explained

What is the Secret Traitor?
For the first time, Claudia Winkleman selects a hidden Traitor whose identity is kept from everyone — the Faithful, the Traitors, and even the audience at home. This mystery player operates alone and has a unique role in the game.

How does it work?
The Secret Traitor is shown who the official Traitors are and is given the power to create a murder shortlist. The Traitors can only eliminate someone whose name appears on that list, giving the Secret Traitor covert control over the game’s most dangerous decision.

Why is it different?
Unlike the main Traitors, the Secret Traitor never meets the group in the turret and never collaborates with them. They are the only person who knows every player’s true status, giving them a strategic advantage no one else has.

Who is the Secret Traitor?
The BBC is keeping the identity tightly under wraps. Viewers will find out during The Traitors on BBC One and iPlayer, airing Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8pm.

Gorton calls Secret Traitor twist “the best in TV history”

Gorton said the new twist has transformed the show and pulled millions of viewers directly into the game.

Paul Gorton said:

“I think it’s the best addition or twist to any show in the history of television… The Secret Traitor has put an extra 10 million people who have been watching at home right into it – it was a genius move.”

He said the twist has made the experience “more immersive than ever”.

Hugo “too big for his boots”, says Gorton

Gorton also dissected the downfall of Hugo, who was dramatically banished earlier in the series.

Paul Gorton said:

“He made a fatal error… That speech at the breakfast table sealed his fate. He went a bit too big for his boots too early.”

He said Hugo’s lack of early alliances made him an easy target.

Ross “looks like a maniac” — but could be a diversion

Gorton also weighed in on Ross, whose behaviour has sparked debate among fans.

Paul Gorton said:

“At the moment, Ross looks like an absolute maniac… but that might point to Ellie being the Secret Traitor.”

He suggested the edit may be setting up a major twist.

Fiona’s stock continues to rise ahead of tonight’s reveal

Fiona’s growing presence in the castle — and her rising odds among fans — has already made her one of the standout players of the season.

Gorton’s comments will only fuel speculation that Swansea’s contestant could be at the heart of the biggest twist the show has ever pulled off.

The Secret Traitor is expected to be revealed tonight.
