On a whim I decided to pick up the game "Path of Mystery: A Brush With Death" on the Nintendo Switch, and I just finished playing through it.

It's a mystery/detective visual novel game about a group of university students going to a small city to investigate a 30-year old cold case. Despite the rather grim reason for their visit the story is often hilarious, wholesome, and just plain fun. It does a fantastic job of balancing all that with the more serious themes of murder and familial strife, and it often had me going "wait, whaaaat?!" at the twists and plot reveals.

The art was great, the voice acting stellar, and the going back in time bits — yes, there are some supernatural elements — were a lot of fun as well.

Anyway, I highly recommend it! It ended in a very satisfactory way, but with more mysteries yet to be solved; I sincerely hope it gets a sequel soon, because it really deserves one.
