Many experts recommend "labeling" for dealing with strong negative emotion. It sounds simple, but if we can identify with the witness, it frees us from identifying with the emotion and getting lost in it. Simple, but not easy. To prepare I practice present moment awareness daily. Focusing on my breath for a minute, or giving my undivided attention to the physical sensations of my body for a few moments. This readies me to label negative emotions when they rise.

What is Part X? That self destructive aspect we all seem to carry around that can pull us off our course. Eckert Tolle called it "The Pain Body". The Cherokee talked of two wolves. What I like about Phil Stutz work is that he gives TOOLS to help us deal with this bundle of self destructive tendencies. I hadn't seen that before.
