Debcraft – Easiest way to modify and build Debian packages

Debian packaging is notoriously hard. Far too many new contributors give up while trying, and many long-time contributors leave due to burnout from having to do too many thankless maintenance tasks. Some just skip testing their changes properly because it feels like too much toil.\nDebcraft is my attempt to solve this by automating all the boring stuff, and making it easier to learn the correct practices and helping new and old packagers better track changes in both source code and build artifacts.\n

I've been adding it to the #NeuroFedora packages, and it's great. It really does reduce a few steps. However, remember to check the license of the new version and its impact on other packages before you merge the PR!

Happy to announce that our paper (ft. @jrfaller) "A #GroundedTheory of #Community #PackageMaintenance #Organizations" has been accepted for publication in the Empirical #SoftwareEngineering journal! It is already available as a preprint at https://hal.telecom-paris.fr/hal-03976601. In this paper, we observe and build a theory of organizations such as #Elm Community, #VoxPupuli, etc. that inspired me to create the Coq-community organization for the #Coq ecosystem.
