JC PalmerMy donor #PSP for my #PSPi arrived from Japan today. From what I can tell, it’s in excellent shape. No battery, so I’m not sure if it boots or not, but I don’t really care about that since I’m stripping everything out including the display.

I’ve been following the #PSPi project for a while now, and I finally pulled the trigger on buying my donor PSP-1000. I’ll be doing a custom model. Anyone who knows me knows that I love the panda colorway about as much as I love transparent tech, so I’m making myself a panda PSP. Black backplate, black buttons, white faceplate. It’ll look awesome, especially to go alongside my Steam Deck OLED LE.
Next is sourcing a new display, battery, a Pi CM4, and the PSPi boards I need. While a larger investment than the GPi Case 2W, I think it’ll be a lot more worthwhile in the long run. Not only will I be able to build something, but I’ll have a more beautiful and bespoke retro gaming handheld.
