Say after me:

If a company controls it via OTA, it controls you.

This is scary. It scares me what the future of EVs and cars in general looks like. Back at CES 2019, @pyoor and I attended a press event from Hyundai which made it blatantly clear it would harvest your data and sell it on… and sell stuff to you as well.

This is also why I’m considering moving my car telematics to #OpenVehicleMonitoringSystem.

I wouldn't mind if the car allowed me access to its climate control systems through the obd ii port because then I could actually use my #OpenVehicleMonitoringSystem to turn on the climate control, but of course #Kia are big into locking people out so they can use subscriptions.

They're not the only car company to do it, but it's very irritating. I paid for the car, let me do what I want with it.
