I've booked tickets for #opentransport2026 including the hack days (first ones in my life).
The plan is to arrive a day before, see Zurich or Bern, and switch to German, then to leave a day after to see the other city. Hopefully, this time I won't be surprised when someone starts a conversation in German and not English.

Tickets reserved for the Open Transport Community Conference #OpenTransport2026

I’m also provisionally down for the hackathon, though I’m not yet sure what I’ll be poking by then. I have some ideas, but it’s a few months and ADHD hyperfocusses away still…

Thanks to all the help from the @FOSSGISeV crew we are finally ready, #OpenTransport2026 registration is planned to open tomorrow 10:00 CEST!

Hackdays and unconference days will be bookable separately, make sure to select both if you want to attend the entire time.

Participation will be free for everyone, but we'll also have paid business tickets if your employer wants to support the event and help cover the cost.

On the way back home from joining the @FOSSGISeV Community Meeting at Linuxhotel in Essen for two days, for working on various organizational details for the @opentransport conference.

We should be able to open the registration soon, later than originally anticipated but at least we wont have to run a 100+ attendee conference as a few individuals without a legal entity behind this anymore.

FOSSGIS Conference 2026

Last week I attended this year’s FOSSGIS-Konferenz in Göttingen, Germany, focusing on public transport and indoor navigation topics.

Another small preparation for traveling to Switzerland for #OpenTransport2026: #KDE Itinerary now warns when leaving the EU roaming regulation area if you happen to live inside that.
In preparation for the #OpenTransport2026 conference #KDE's travel apps Itinerary and KTrip will support the Swiss OpenJourneyPlanner 2.0 and train formations APIs in the upcoming 26.04 release.

More on train ticket prices.

From Berlin to Bern, which is about 1,000km, one can go for 40€. But to get from Poznań to Berlin, which is about 300km, one has to pay at least 108zł (about 25€ today).

Tangently, it's possible to go from London to Oxford, which is about 100km, for 7£ (about 8€ today).

All prices way in advance (pun unexpected)
