I'm one of those kids that grew up in the era of Ontario Hydro ads on TV. One of their campaigns talked about turning out the lights when you don't need them; I still do that today - drives my wife nuts when I leave the room.

That gusting wind also took down some power lines on our rural road, about a kilometer south of where Harley and I were hiking. Thankfully we didn't lose power at the house.
@mstine #OntarioHydro used to run TV commercials bragging about how many **YEARS** it had been since the last power outage. At the time, I was unimpressed thinking that was their job and should be a minimum expected level of competence. Now that I live in the US, I have a much better appreciation for how good Ontario Hydro was in comparison.
My UPS's get enough use that I've replaced the batteries in some of them multiple times.
