Some rationalize #akleg PFD cuts on the basis that it's "free money" anyway. But the "free money" doesn't go away with the cuts; the benefits just transfer to the Top20%, #NonRez & #OilCos. The 2026 ISER report on #akleg fiscal options CLEARLY outlines paths for saving 80% of #AKfams tons of money. To date, NO candidate for #AKgov has included those paths in their platform. Why? The #akleg is operated mostly for the benefit of the Top20%, #OilCos & #NonRez. Some #akleg are there entirely to protect that, some understand it and play the game to get what they can for select interests & some (most??) are clueless and just go along. Very, VERY few push back.
