Because I did promise pics...

I'm still pretty far away from done, but I had to get myself connected back up so I was up and running for work this week. I'll probably be at it for the next few weekends. (like the ones between now and 2027😜)

Blanks for now, and some future stuff I have on the drawing board to integrate #OHIS and some other things, will fill up the ugly unfinished spaces.

Check out this wonderful blog post by W0DHZ, Dale, showing how he built an HHI Contesting Console, HHI Radio Pro, and two HHI User Pros into a portable setup for use as a 2-person POTA rig.

I mean, just look at this beautiful build!

Dale’s blog post includes the STL files for the 3D printed case to hold the Radio Pro and Contesting Console […]

Contesting Console for 2 Person POTA – Halibut Electronics

Speaking of @smitty, I thought I found another example of the need for the open headset interconnect standard, but perhaps it is more beside it because it's control+RF not control+AF?

People found their MX-P50M amplifiers worked with their Elecraft KX-2 but not their (tr)uSDX. Why? Electrical incompatibility between the radio's PA port and the amplifier's PTT port. They figured it out, but not without releasing the magic smoke. https://forum.dl2man.de/viewtopic.php?t=507 #OHIS #truSDX #HamRadio

@smitty Sorry this has taken so long to find but you might find this 'prior art' from the '90's interesting for #OHIS https://web.archive.org/web/20190728224803/http://www.familybest.co.uk/cairo/index.html . The need then was to remote operate transceivers or tie them together into Cross-Band repeaters for emergency comms. The DIN connector is quite robust and was included in a UK manufacturer's transceiver family for a while. Peter's website is long gone and I should really check to see how he is.

I'm feeling like an expectant father now... I just sent off my first order of PC boards for a project that I figured needed doing. Thanks to the incredibly patient and smart @smitty, who taught me how to use KiCAD (keep in mind, the last time I designed a board was in the 80's with dry-transfer resist...) The Gerbers are now in the capable hands of JLCPCB. In roughly 2 weeks I'll have them in hand and once I stuff 'em with parts, I'll see if I screwed anything up. About to join Team #OHIS.
Hey look at that! I'm presenting at the Amateur Radio Newsline Town Hall, at 11:30am on Friday at #Hamvention! I'll be talking about, and taking questions on, the #OHIS Open Headset Interconnect Standard. https://hamvention.org/event-details/forums/
