the drymifolia collectiveMost of the #greenhouse #avocado trees are finally starting to wake up, with this seedling (#No169) the furthest along. This is the only tree in our collection with such fuzzy, pink new leaves, though they start to turn green as soon as they expand.
#No169 is a seedling of unknown parentage, it was acquired as the rootstock of a grafted #Jade #avocado from Oliver Moore in #Gainesville, FL. It does have a strong anise scent, though, so likely is hardy. Here is a photo from when the rootstock was first allowed to grow its own shoot:
The third tree, which has been in the ground for less than a year now, is #No169, a seedling of a #Gainesville-area tree (likely #DelRio), which was grafted with #Jade (the main top part in the photo).
Last year, I added a graft of #WalterHole (blue), and let the rootstock grow a branch (magenta). The tree was from Oliver Moore (he's not on here yet, right @floridafruitgeek?)
