furthermore, the cryptic note and her origins on the ninth planet are left unexplained so now I'm continuing in the hope that the mystery gets resolved instead of just being a useful cliche for a fantasy protagonist who's now effectively dead.

RittisMariaSo, I really think Leigh Bardugo's books have a disturbing amount of glorifying thinness, with how both Alina Starkov and Alex Stern are repeatedly said to be so thin, "so skinny she might slip straight through the floorboards." (Hell Bent, p.13). Alina is starved, she starves again, her thinness was so emphasised I kid you not I expected her to accomplish some feat of squeezing through a tunnel. But no, it's just part of the character. I really don't like this at all.

Alice With The BooksThis is my first #LeighBardugo novel, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. #NinthHouse takes a long time to get going. There seems to be a lot more telling of the story than any actual showing of it, but that might be down to the amount of world building. It picked about halfway though, when I started to enjoy it more. Overall, I think I was expecting more from such a hyped author, and while I'm interested to see what happens next, I'm not in a hurry to rush out and buy #HellBent yet.
