I'm a FWO Junior Postdoctoral Fellow at #KULeuven. My interests lies in the intersection of #musictheory, #musicology and #globalhistory and I specialise especially in music around 1900. My current project attempts a global history of early #musicalmodernism, looking specifically into the cultural counterpoint between East Asia, Europe and North America. I'm also completing a book on #musicalform and #dialectics drawing on my PhD research.
I'm working on musical modernism in #Japan in the early #shōwa period at the moment and looking forward to connecting with other music scholars and cultural #histodons.
As a start, here is a concert series which I'm looking into: #NewSymphonyOrchestra (now #NHKSymphonyOrchestra ) performing in celebration of the 2600th anniversary of the founding of the Empire of Japan in 1940 (pc: jaa2100.org).
