I just read a very recent post where someone complains that their search function isn't working to find posts by content.
On my present Mastodon instance, searching for posts has NEVER worked. There's a tab for it in the search results, but it is ALWAYS EMPTY. What little information I can find on the subject indicates that this is by design.
So then I went back to my timeline to comment on the post, and guess what? Even when scrolling MANUALLY through my timeline (remember: there's no no search by content!), I COULD NO LONGER FIND THAT POST.
So go ahead, tell me that not supporting search-by-content is a good design decision. I don't fucking buy it.
Now maybe this is specific to my instance. If so, I think I'm gonna move. This is not how the Fediverse becomes ubiquitous, folks.
I asked the Deepseek #LLM running on my MacBook Pro what it knew about me and it reported that I am "a British author and former military officer known for his work in the fields of military history, intelligence, and espionage fiction" who wrote two books: "The Protocol" and "Operation Orzaba".
Apart from being a (formerly) British author, the rest of this information is pure hallucination.
Don't rely on LLMs for factual information.
I'm composing a new Christmas Carol that goes:
Christmas is overmorrow!
Christmas is OVERMORROW!
I AM SO NOT READY!
