I cleaned the roof guttering today. It’s a tedious job - I don’t have a special tool and I have a strict policy of not climbing on the roof. That means I climb a ladder, reach in and remove unwanted stuff with my gloved hand, get down the ladder, move the ladder along, and repeat. At least all that ladder climbing is good exercise!
Anyway, this job always makes me contemplate how amazing nature is. It’s an inhospitable environment, with hard metal or plastic and occasional floods of fast-flowing rainwater. But leaves blow in and eventually develop into luscious leaf mould. Then seeds are delivered by birds or the wind, and next thing there’s a thriving plant growing in this unlikely place. 💚
