This week, the #GBIFZimbabwe node is hosting a workshop in Harare focused on #BusinessSector engagement and capacity building. It brings together colleagues from the Endangered Wildlife Trust, node staff from #GBIFMalawi and invited guests Ricardo Ortiz Gallego (#SiBColombia) and Niels Raes (#NLBIF).πŸ’š

Big boost for Balkan biodiversity data! 😍

🌳 A project led by Svetlana Miteva and Dennis Wansink through The Habitat Foundation set out in 2022–24 to support biodiversity data mobilization across the Balkans, resulting in 1,441,356 records published to GBIF! ⭐

This incredible effort represents +89% increase in the published data on biodiversity from the Balkans. πŸ₯³

Xeno-canto is an online database that provides access to wildlife sound recordings and soundscapes from around the world.

Since launching in 2005 with a focus on birds, 🐦 the platform has expanded taxonomic coverage and contains records collected by both professional and citizen scientists. πŸ”Ž

Records are made available for publishing through support of #NLBIF.
