I hope that those pressing for a statutory inquiry into the Lucy Letby murders are successful.

A couple of questions that immediately occur to me:

- How in the wake of several unexpected deaths did the worries of the hospital’s director of corporate affairs regarding the hospital’s reputation come to take precedence over senior doctors’ concerns about patient safety?

- Why did another hospital executive meet Letby’s father and then pass on to the concerned doctors the father’s threats to refer those doctors to the General Medical Council?
