The fence in back with the barbed wire is from the Obama era. Every administration, especially starting with Clinton, has added to the militarization of the border. And each additional layer costs lives as people try riskier and riskier routes across the desert and enriches cartels, all without actually stopping drugs, which mostly come in through the ports of entry.

West of Nogales, Arizona. Scenic drive anyone? So far, they seem to allow people to drive this road, but there are very few Border Patrol agents to be seen until you get near Nogales. They never come out here, partly because there's not much for them to do.

A lot of these photos are starting to look a little the same, so I'll eventually have to pare them down. I want to get as many shots from as many angles as possible to have lots to choose from. Also to get them while I can, because I'm assuming if construction restarts, they'll close the road.

Trump-1-era fence in front of Obama-era fence, creating a void that migrants sometimes get caught in when the get through the barbed wire of the first fence, but can't scale the second one.

West of Nogales, AZ, the fence continues about 10 miles to a large staging area carved out of the top of a mountain. The bulldozer line continues a mile or so westward, then there is a 10 mile stretch of wilderness until the fence starts up again at the migrant aid camp east of Sasabe, AZ.

If the Biden administration didn't extend the wall into new terrain, they did fill all the gaps in this and other areas of the border, including adding the very expensive cement road. So much money wasted. It really requires seeing it in person to grasp the enormity. It truly qualifies as a mega-project.

After getting back from paragliding in Colombia a week ago, I couldn't wait to get back to the border. After spending the night at the asylum seeker aid camp, I went around the mountains to the Nogales side and got a whole bunch more #MuroLoco / Wall Crazy shots.

I'll be adding a bunch more soon.

The front fence is from the last Trump administration. The one behind is (I'm pretty sure) left over from the Obama administration. Note how much U.S. territory has been ceded to Mexico or become no-one's land between the fences.

Gigapede: a million-footed arthropod of nightmare proportions that we've created to guard an imaginary line because we're afraid a few of the wrong human feet might cross it.

The previous "wall" near Tres Bellotas Ranch east of Sasabe, AZ. Based on a number of discussions, I believe that this was constructed under the Obama administration. It was torn down and replaced with the current "mine-is-bigger" Trump administration fence. This is just a small section of a huge pile.
