Did an excellent hike yesterday: Mt Everard Circuit in Kinglake National Park. In addition to the route being 20km long, there are some hills that don't look "technical" but challenge your endurance because there's no let-up, so fatigue starts to set-in (over 900 metres total ascent and descent).
Much of the Kinglake region got obliterated by the Black Saturday Bushfires in 2009, so it was wonderful to see this part of it has been regenerating so well. Stonking forest scenery, A+ for Eucalypt, Xanthorrhoea, ferns, and unusually coloured fungus.
