@Suzimiya wenns nicht illegal wär würd' ich gern "#MovieCaps" verknallern…

  • Nur kriegt mensch die nichtmals einfach…

@confracto because they rather #gamble on the next #Bond movie rather than working on getting their #distribution and #production going...

  • And it wasn't like folks weren't interested in making it continue.

Allegedly Joe Flanaghan himself offered to cough up substantial amounts to allow continuation of #StargateAtlantis since it obviously made good profit.

  • Obviously it's not like with #Movies where one has big box office, then a year later physical, streaming and (Pay-)TV reruns that make resitutional payments go, but #Series productions do accrew longer time and more mixed revenues with #TV, #streaming and physical disc sales delivering constant revenue for 2-5+ years post-production.

And whilst original production costs were high amidst expensive spechal effects and CGI, the economies of scale and subsequent cost reductions in many parts made it more feasible, less costly (after all the expensive parts were built and bought once and reused as much as possible) and more streamlined as crews have done their workflows and co-optimized each other.

  • Not to mention that whilst a physical set is big, bulky and expensive, once setup it's relatively cheap to run and has all the things in place...

Noone's gonna complain that they use greenscreen & green lametta for the activated Stargate surface, or that the #Moviecaps (basically gas/signal cartridges without projectiles but some mnor metal powder to provide muzzle flashes and cycle the firearm) don't have the exact recoil impulse or original cyclic rate and that they've to superimpose the real gun sounds for hearing safety...

  • And with Amazon owning MGM the problem isn't money - in fact if Bezos wanted he could easily invest record amounts in it and not even get side-eyed for it in terms of % it takes...

@Adam_Cadmon1 @unikitty even then - even if it's an Airsoft...

One does not distinguish in firearms safety between a BB pistol and an Mk19 automatic grenade launcher as a matter of principle!

Same goes for "#Moviecaps" aka. blank firing guns that only make some fancy flashes and don't shoot any real projectile:
