I'm reposting everything from my old Instagram, to keep my archive and have a record of my work's development. I'm adding commentary below the original text.

Monotropa uniflora is a very fascinating plant: it is a myco-heterotroph, a plant in a symbiotic relationship with a fungus. This means the flower gets all of its food from the fungus instead of from photosynthesis, which plants normally use. The fungus gets nothing in return, so I doubt the symbiosis. Seems more of a parasitic relationship to me. This plant can live without sunlight because it gets its food from the fungus. It is white or pinkish instead of green (I think it doesn't have much need for chlorophyll?) and is one of the most beautiful parasites I have ever seen.
So is this one on my list? Yes. Everything is on my 'to make' list.
I’ve made this light since, yet it’s still on my “to-make” list—proving once again that everything stays on my to-make list, no matter if I’ve already made it.
These flowers are so fascinating! They almost look alien, a quality that’s only enhanced by adding lights to them. I’m actually working on another version of these flowers right now for a client who requested them.
