That has seemed to me for YEARS to be the blatantly obvious tack to follow on taxation.
Western economies now run mostly on non-productive #MoneyShifting industries (everything #finance-related, through #dividends, #insurance, #advertising, #gambling etc.)
Even #CorporateTax is a distortion & should be zero, as it also taxes *production* and thus employment. (But of course, tax the profiteers running the corps.)
But as we all know, none of this will ever happen.
@Geri
That should be 100% anyway.
And 100% on income over £1m.
Because NO-one "earns" that in a year. They may *make* it but it is other people that do the earning for them.
They are nothing but #Moneyshifters, and #Moneyshifting has NO positive productive influence on the national economy. It is simply *taking* from those who should be earning it as they DO contribute to the economy. But these are the ones that get punished in the corp-govt swindle.
@KatyElphinstone @midgard
#Advertising is a pervasive #Moneyshifting bane on modern civilisation.
I have not consciously handed a penny over to any product/service on the strength of an #advertisement in many, many years.
And it is only getting incessantly worse.
It is all lies anyway, and we don't need (to pay for) it. Instead, we should have a public service group that publishes a clear, balanced description of every registered product/service, accessible to everyone whenever we require.
@Rasta
There are several industries that produce nothing, offer no actual service (other than using "clients" as a catalyst to rake in more profit) & that I generally classify under useless & #Moneyshifting, including #insurance, #gambling, "#FinancialServices", #Advertising... What have I left out? 🤔
@baoigheallain
The intangible economy is a house of cards, but they have the lobbying (i.e. bribery) power to have govt legislation passed that teases & obliges everyone to subscribe to this growing #MoneyShifting deviance to their advantage.
We just get used to it & don't notice it growing, as we are the proverbial frog in the pot.
@baoigheallain
"#Insurance" is just yet another of those #MoneyShifting so-called "services" in Western economies that actually produce *Nothing* but are only there to suck up the incomes of those that do. Most Western GDP($£€) is now heavily filled with some kind of financial "services" while actual production slides down the GDP($£€) pole.
#Capital #Investment, #Insurance, #FinancialServices, #Gambling, #Advertising + a few others, actual tangible GDP*: zero.
(*P as in "Product", not $£€.)
@maxoakland
Gambling is one of a suite of "economic" activities that I call #MoneyShifting. No useful product or service other than "selling" fear: either that we could go poor, unhealthy, in danger..; or a carrot. So these include #insurance & "Financial Services" & gambling, but also advertising, which is only about getting us to spend what we don't need to spend, or take it from a competitor, but the only one losing money is the consumer.
And their share of the economy is huge & growing!
