Unpopular opinion (or perhaps not!):
Individuality is overrated. Not only its importance but also its existence; we are far more similar than we realize.
I value the feeling of freedom (even if illusory) more than feeling unique or original.

NGL with LinkedIn using content for AI training (already opted out), I wanna leave BUT also feel I have to be there coz:

1. red flag apparently if i'm not searchable for people who want to hire me or collab on projects
2. able to post about #DWeb / #OpenWeb there so I can show non #fedi folx how awesome it is here on the #Fediverse
3. i host, cohost, attend, promote #VancouverTech events
Meeting a lot of new folx coming into to VanCity who want and appreciate being tagged in my picture posts, writing, or basically anything related to food or coffee (my true loves) LOL.

Since summer, volunteering for IRL #grief support / #mourning walks at the New West quay via BC Bereavement Helpline and Tech2Step Canada.

With September being Suicide awareness/prevention month, I help spread the message about not being alone & resources available. Hopefully it is reaching who needs it!

Is being on LinkedIn helpful RN? Yes so until someone creates a #FLOSS version, I feel stuck

»Waxing halfmoon is my favorite phase, promising a bright week culminating in a full moon rite out on the trail - elevated only by a warm summer evening.

Being unable to make this lunar pilgrimage due to a lack of wheels is difficult, but the glow of previous moons radiate within me.

» About a month back, I lost the use of my vehicle due to recurring age-related breakdowns with which I couldn't financially keep up.
While I've always felt exceedingly fortunate to live in the Central Coast - as many beautiful trails are close at hand - I now find myself unable to access them.
In part because of this rural splendor, public transportation is unfortunately not a viable replacement for owning a car.

In the trail's absence, I've found myself more dependent on - and grateful for - the escape, exploration, and wonder that video games provide.
While no media is a suitable replacement for one-on-one time with Gaia, it's reassuring to learn that the joy and spontaneity I felt out in the chaparral, oak forests, and tied pools, are very much present in binary.

No matter what, our dogs remind us with their joy and love that life goes on. We leave pieces of ourselves behind with each dog who leaves us, and we’re given new pieces by each dog who remains. It’s never a replacement of what we’ve lost, but a chance to build on what we have.

NGL wishing quote posts were a thing here already BECAUSE I can only boost other people's posts (then comment on it or vice versa) which I find to be not very user-friendly from a design perspective.

With quote posts, I can re-post a person's OG stat, event, tidbit, insight and add my own about it (kinda like how LinkedIn has "Repost with your thoughts which is refreshing).

Giving folx options on repost by having something similar (repost vs. repost with your thoughts) is this designer's preference #MondayMusing #Fediverse #UserFriendly

Any chance of reversing time and going back to the cusp of the season of warm salty-aired days?

These lines caught me from the Prologue of The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey #Chaucer , describing a Prioress:

And Frenssh she spak ful faire and fetisly,
After the scole of Stratford atte Bowe,
For Frenssh of Parys was to hire unknowe
For those struggling with the Middle English:She spoke French very well and elegantly,
After the style of Stratford-at-Bow,
For the French of Paris was unknown to her
It just made me think that languages that are spoken widely, like Latin & Greek in the Ancient world, French in the Middle Ages, or English now, develop local dialects that might have very little connection to the "core".

And so English as spoken in India, or Africa, or Latin America are valid forms of English, and have their own vibrant lives, and contributions to make to the wider language.
