Càrn na Saobhaide and Càrn na Làraiche Maoile in the northern Monadhliath, the area of high ground south of Loch Ness and north of the Spey.

The network of gravel service roads for the Corriegarth Wind Farm made for easy walking.

And the river that Moray and I followed in the last pic is the River E: are there any other single letter place names in this country?

Looking back across the moorland to Glenbanchor and Creag Dhubh.

I had a lovely walk this afternoon, so lucky to have this only a mile from where I grew up. Looking into the hills towards A’Chailleach, and the track I started on.

For #silentSunday here’s a new moon over the Monadhliath from earlier in the week

The forecast was for the least bad day in between two storm systems. In the event it was a real Goldilocks day: not too hot, not too cold, not too calm, not too windy, not too sunny, not too cloudy. A bit of mist covering the summits, but it cleared while we were there.

Meall na h-Aisre in the #Monadhliath from #GarvaBridge. There's a lot of water on the ground, it was very boggy until we'd gained some height.

This gives perhaps a better idea of a lot of the terrain. Lots of peat bogs and groughs. But great to see the spring alpine flowers in abundance. Creeping azalea and Cloudberry.
