After my mom died, I learned about memento mori. I wasn't sure what, but I knew I wanted to do something. Going through her papers, I found that she'd saved and pressed flowers I'd given her almost 30 years earlier--forget-me-nots. While I didn't have a lock of her hair, I had kept her brush.
