Anyone know why the #Brussels #Mobib card needs to be renewed every 5 years for €5? I noticed the dutch #GVB system charges €7 for an rfid card. If every city charges €5+ for rfid cards that actually cost ~25¢, it can really add up for travelers.

I'm impressed! I didn't think it was possible to screw up buying a ticket public transport online as much as the #STIBMIVB app does for #MOBIB. The single point of buying a ticket online is to _avoid_ interacting with the machines. And I shouldn't need to create an account, much less supply a date of birth. Just let people buy the ticket in the app and use #NFC to load it like a remotely sane online ticketing system would. This literally misses the point of basic cards. 🤦

If you want to load your #Brussels #Mobib card in advance, at the moment you have to download proprietary software, which I won't - #FreeSoftware #PublicTransport #MIVB #FOSDEM #FOSDEM19 #PublicMoneyPublicCode #PMPC
