Seriously, I recommend this concerto very highly. I just watched it again, and the livestream is up all weekend. It's heart-poundingly exciting and technically amazing. It makes the timpani sound like a steel pan and the orchestra like backup percussion. It's got a great trombone solo and the actual backup percussion is superb -- they get to use the Mahler box and the chain and their new church bell in ways that really work well. Even the clarinets get a nice bit handing off between the three players.
Start at about 44 minutes into the stream.
