#MicroRecordReview Various Artists - Popscene from Baggy to Britpop 1989-1994

Compilation from Cherry Red that covers deep cuts from this period in British alternative music. For example you get Feelin' by The La's rather than There She Goes, there’s S*M*A*S*H, Bleach, Adorable, World of Twist and other non-obvious picks alongside Blur, Ride and Suede. Not exactly recommended, but if you're a British Gen X indie kid, you'll appreciate this if you want to reminisce.

My #MicroRecordReview of Nobody Loves You More by Kim Deal

There were moments when I struggled with the cognitive dissonance of hearing lush string arrangements behind Kim Deal's singing. Those moments quickly passed and found myself really enjoying this rather lovely record. Recommend. But expected the unexpected.

(addendum: I did feel the need to listen to Pod immediately afterwards in order to flush all that smoothness out of my system)

A #MicroRecordReview for the newly released "Slates Live" by The Fall. A selection of live versions of the original tracks, lovingly excavated by members of band from the slagheap of Fall bootlegs and other live recordings.

If you look up the word "Joy" in the dictionary it now just says: https://bellaunion.bandcamp.com/album/slates-live

Big Swimmer by King Hannah.

I loved this one. Switched off my mind relaxed and floated downstream. Warm honey to sooth the fractured spirit. Recommend.

I also enjoyed the new(ish) albums from Blossoms and Diners, although they've pushed me way above my usual monthly quota of cheerful upbeat music. Is this what it feels like to be a cheerful upbeat person?

My #MicroRecordReview for Arthur Moon by Arthur Moon, h/t @steveroyle #RoyleRecommendation

Very enjoyable. Like a gentle gust of wind that is lifting me out of this Sainsburys checkout queue and into another, better, dimension. Special mention to the song " Myelin" - oligodendrocytes are one of my favourite cell types and there are not enough songs written about them IMO.
