On #ThisDayInHistory in 1967 was the only fatality of the #X15 rocket-plane programme. Pilot #MichaelJAdams was killed when the craft broke apart after separating from the NB-52 launch platform. The X-15 still holds the world record, flying at mach 6.7 at altitude of 19.34 miles.
