1190 Mixtape: Jazz Sunrise

(ARTE, Wh.)
Zum Blog: https://nexxtpress.de/mediathekperlen/kevin-costner-der-mit-dem-wolf-tanzt-1990/My ranking for anyone curious, and the reasoning behind it:
1. Zohran Mamdani
2. Brad Lander
3. Michael Blake
4. Adrienne Adams
5. Zellnor Myrie
On a strictly policy level, I'm a Michael Blake guy--I'm not a DSA boi; While I'm a policy voter, I also want to emphasize the need to take into consideration the bigger picture of the effect an election result has on the enthusiasm or apathy towards a political party and democracy more broadly.
This election is a referendum on the efficacy of electoral politics.
Young people on the progressive-to-left wing have seen elections gain them little more than a "nothing will fundamentally change" (his words) Biden presidency and an heir apparent who, following a long trail of Biden's broken promises--including him stepping aside to let her run earlier on--had "not a thing that comes to mind" (her words) that she would have done differently than her boss.
As democracy comes under attack more directly by a Trump white house and more insidiously by big money super PACs, we can't afford to not have a demonstrable, living-memory example of democracy delivering bold, life-changing policy goals.
Mamdani, Lander, and Blake have that kind of policy agenda, most other candidates do not. Out of those three, Mamdani has the ear of exactly the people who are looking for a reason to care about democracy at all.
If you want your less well-off neighbors to respond defensively to attacks against democracy, you need to give them reason to care. No one is going to seriously fight for a republic that isn't seriously fighting for them.
Rank Mamdani, Lander and Blake today: https://vote.nyc/
Also, respect. I wish more people, after realizing they're just not good drivers, gave up their cars.
In general #MichaelBlake has some good answers here (such as affordability being a #1 concern), and I think he's entered my ballot rankings.
