I am grateful to be able to watch #MockTheWeek again. This week #MiltonJones was on, and the #MegaBus man showed up a second time.

Adding to my list of things I'm spokesperson for: #MegaBus.
These bus drivers really don't eff around on the #MegaBus. Thirty minutes early.

@jfmezei Another time, I earned a cowboy style hat thanks to #megabus

I was going from Sacramento to the Bay Area with extra luggage, so I had to book 2 seats. Upon boarding, a very young very much in love couple showed up, without tickets. There was only 1 seat left. So I explained to the driver that I had booked 2 seats, and they were allowed to ride.

The lad was so happy he gave me his hat; he wouldn't take no for an answer. :-)

@jfmezei It is a tough business. I haven't used them in years. I hate riding buses, makes my sick.

But I recall a ~12 hour #Megabus trip from Toronto to New York City in 2008 for $1.50. The ticket was $1, plus a 50 cents booking fee. In today's money, that would be $2.09. 🙂

The following year, two lovely girls and I went from NYC to Boston (and back). We brought sandwiches from Tom's Diner for the ride. Yes, the Tom's Diner of Suzan Vega and Seinfeld.

Capitalism killed the Megabus (in the States) now?
Can't have the Poors moving from city to city now, escaping their indentured labour contracts, getting abortions, fleeing vicious partners...

At least that big disturbing face is still on British roads.

Megabus ends service in Houston, other Texas cities, following parent company bankruptcy

Houston residents will now have one less option when it comes to interstate bus travel after Megabus pulls out of the Texas market.

Houston Public Media

How did the parent company of #Megabus go bankrupt?

"Coach, the largest privately-owned bus company in the U.S., was acquired by private equity firm Variant Equity Advisors for $270 million, mostly using debt that is still on the company's books."

Oh, the all-too-common private equity vulture capitalism way.
